I bought this browned out stag at Petco of all places and they said it was "Joe the coral". I didn't think it was, and still don't. It started brown but developed a deep dark purple base with the green polyps and coralites. Anyone recognize this as a named coral?

Man, so maybe I can name this one to my liking and make it a collectors piece :).

It looks like a Garf Bonsi Acropora. I can’t be certain from that angle and lighting.

It does look like that, except I have a Garf and the growth pattern is totally different. Also the coralites on this one sometimes have green around the rim and the Garf doesn't have that at all, just the green polyps.

Based off the colors, if it is a stag.. might be something like Exquisita.

The coloration is completely different than Joe the coral but with that being said I’ve seen acros change color pretty wildly. Time will tell.

They probably had an ORA shipment of acro frags and the guy told you the wrong one. It’s probably ORA purple jade or ORA MIMF purple and green
