The tank arrived on 12/23. It is in the garage.

This project and this thread will be a slow burn. My youtube research suggest a fair number of reefers are likely stoners, so that probably won’t bother you too much. Looking forward to getting this thing in the house tomorrow.

Santa came for the 4 and 6 old. I’ve been charging batteries and cleaning up their crap all day. Mommy and daddy Santa had too much wine and food last night. Good weekend, no doubt!

Hopefully I’ll get the tank wet before the New Year. I have purchased enough basic equipment to get started. Starting from zero though, so obviously a tons of expensive stuff to buy. I’m not purchasing everything all at once. This will be a mixed reef. I’m just buying the basics and will slowly add on.

I here ya , I had my first set up before my 3 kids and went through it all. The funniest story, not at the time, was when I got home and found a dozen grapes in my tank because my 3 year old wanted to feed the fish.

Ya, my first 2 were 16 months apart took us three years to muster up the strength for our 3rd. Your kids will be getting to the age soon when they will really be into the tank and you’ll have great father child experiences with them. How much more fun could that be.

I bought the kids and myself a microscope too. They could destroy a crowbar, so it’s lifespan will be severely truncated. Its an entry level plastic cover scope, surprisingly cheap, so not a big deal I guess. It’s not the quality time an Optimus Prime action figure gives, but could be fun and interesting, especially with the aquarium.

Despite life trying to get in the way, I managed to get the plumbing in today. I’ll eventually take some good pics of everything, but not today,

Does anyone know what this square black piece is in the pics? It doesn’t neatly fit anywhere. It came rapped and taped up like it’s something important. It’s not the same size of the removable baffle.

I ordered some special grade from BRS. I live on a beautiful clean beach in St Augustine, FL and of course my sand is being shipped to me from MN.
