My tank is about 110 total water volume and 2 1/2 years old. I have a bad outbreak of some brown stringy algae. I don't know what it is. I'm afraid it might be dino's. I have a microscope coming to try to identify whatever it is.

I have been dosing dr tims eco balance for about 6 months one a week on Saturday. The directions say not to dose with any other bacteria. Can I add a different type of bacteria as long as it is on a different day such as mb7 or zeobak? Thanks

I ordered a microscope, ordered calcium carbonate, shutting the lights to 4 hours a day, and dosing phyto. I also been vacuuming everyday.

Ug, I should have said "white light photo" my bad.

This photo does not shine any light as to what your seeing for algae.

I will get a white pic later after the lights been on 4 hrs.

if it is dinos, I’d make sure N and P are readily available and I’d dose silicate to boost diatoms that can outcompete Dino’s for space.

I tested and phosphates are 0.06 nitrates are 8.6

My ph has been going to 8.4 and once in a while 8.5

Here are some pics with just the whites on.
