Dosing iodine

Anyone does iodine tegularly?

Dose once a week 4.5ml into 180 gallons. I seem to have a good response. Started about 6 weeks ago because of icp test.

Yah-my lfs whixh i trust recomended 4 drops of lugols once a week

Easiest testing kit?

I use dsr ez trace which has iodine. I add it to my ato and some gets added every time the ato kicks on.

I dose 2x per week.
Like many elements, we dose small enough to insure it gets used up, no testing except icp.

Used to do lugols. Thought it made a difference, then I didn't. Now do a DIY potassium iodide. No idea if if does anything but it's ridiculously cheap and I haven't killed anything yet.

In my early 1990’s, I lost a large colony of silver pulsing Xenia from the Red Sea. I was told that it was due to iodine deficiency. I didn’t measure back then and I don’t measure now, In the three tanks that have Xenia, I dose biweekly. However, I recently started dosing concentrated liquid kelp and for certain that has some iodine.

I was doing 7 a week in a 60. The guidelines appear a little fluffy, lol.
