Dosing needed?

Is it possible to just manually dose instead of using dosators. I will only be doing LPS and a few softies. Also, does using a more expensive reef salt help maintain calcium and other parameters.

Yes, manual dosing will be fine for that type of tank. Dosing pumps are just more convenient. Using a more expensive salt will not necessarily help. It all depends on what parameters the salt mixes up to. I personally prefer to have a have a salt mix that closely matches my target parameters, then dose to keep them stable.
