Going forward, I have a variety of DIY solutions that I think may be better (cheaper with a purity guarantee).

Sodium nitrate, calcium nitrate, ammonium chloride or ammonium bicarbonate are all good sources of N.

yes you can. Be very carefull though, I had a doser malfunction while dosing a DIY No3 solution the result was bleaching of alot of Acropora.

Great! And thanks will definitely check those out neonitro is definitely a little expensive.

Also ive read on another post that dosing Nitrate will result in a slight drop in Phosphate, is this true?

not sure about that one. just google diy nitrate solution, so much cheaper than NeoNitrate.

Only if there is some organism that is N limited for growth and it grows faster, taking up P. I would not assume that will happen, but it might.
