Dosing Phyto

How often do you all add food for your filter feeders? I never had before a few months ago when I added some feather dusters and an anemone crab. I started adding some about 3 times a week and I've now got an increase in my nitrates. I was always reading 0 and now I'm getting 5. Am I dosing too much?

My tank is a mildly stocked 60g cube mixed reef and I maintain a 30g for a copepod farm. I place a very tiny amount, a few drops, in both tanks 3-4 times a week. I suspect you'll find people all over the map on this issue. Just remember that it's just everyone's opinion. Everyone must find what works for themselves but at least you'll get ideas.

Sounds like you could back off just a bit. I use no more than 1/2 cup twice a week in my 90 with heavy filter feeders in it.
BTW, that is 1/2 cup of my own home grown phyto. Not commercial concentrated stuff.
