Hey what's up guys, just wanted to share a bit of my build thread for what is in the works and what's is there to come.
I started the hobby about 2010, I ended up winning a gold fish from the San Diego County Fair for my daughter. With in that week, I stoped by Walmart to purchase a 5 gallon tank, gravel and small aqua clear to create a decent housing for our newly acquired fish. A month passed and I wondered what would it be like to have a bigger tank. We ended up swapping our 5 gallon tank to 30 gallon acrylic fish tank. That only satisfied by curiosity for a bit, thanks to the internet, I ended up learning about brackish, to a saltwater fish tank to ultimately to a reef. My first reef aquarium was a used 34g Solona, with metal halide pendant. Few Live rocks for a small aquascape a pair of clowns and man tank was beautiful. The tank ended up having a leak and from a few drips of water to balast (kaboom) all is lost. Taking a break from the hobby was the best thing, gave me time to do more research on different kind of fish, how light, elements ( alk, cal, mg, ect) coral nutrition plays a part of keeping a healthy reef thank thriving. Fast forward... about 2.5 years ago we purchase 100.3 from Waterbox Aquarium, man was the tank beautiful, all starfire glass including over flow, run with aquatic life t5 hybrid and xr15 w diffuser. I was able to keep whatever I wanted.
My wife and I was fortunate to enough to provide my growing family a home. With a big house of our own, I always wanted to have a very big tank, 72 long so I may see the fish swim back and forth, side to side. My wife is a champ! she gave me a go on purchasing a bigger tank. After hours of debating where my dream tank should be placed I pulled trigger on purchasing 220.6 Waterbox ( white stand ). Why Waterbox instead of red sea 750xxl? having to own a water box I saw no cons in my decision. Their build quality is top notch. I have buddies who owns Red Sea and are very happy with decision, but I feel water box having an all glass including overflow for easy maintainability is great feature to have. After ordering the tank it took approximately 6 weeks to arrive. Yes tank is finally here!! ( mouth drooling, kid in a candy store).
Having a cleared garage for Ups guy to park the tank is key.
Now the fun part the unboxing, uhhh not so fun. The outside housing that houses the aquarium was a B!^tch to remove. Yes couple screws should be able to remove each side panels, not!!!, f@ck that **** was hard, trying to remove the outside housing without damaging the tank was a challenge. Each of the side panels were tightly stapled, ( do not try using a hammer trust me ) I was able to each side panels by wiggling each side slowly. Now the next step getting it inside the house!
Building the stand wasn't to difficult but my complaint is their directions doesn't tell you much, little bit of diagrams but no real explanation on which screw is next and goes where. ( watebox more details please )
A weeks goes by and I was able to recruit a couple of my neighbors ( good buddies ) to help me move the tank.
I purchased sliding material in amazon, that works specifically with moving large items through hardwood floors.
We were able to place the tank on top of the 4 sliding material place on the floor. Why not suction cups ( honestly I did not trust those ***** ) knowing two of my neighbors lift and practice ju jitsu, should not be a problem, ey ( heavy butt hell but I was right). We were able to slide the tank till it reached the very front of the stand, and from there we lifted the tank into the top of the stand. Having those foam shielding on the bottom of the tank helped with grip.
