Doing the Dr.Tim’s fishless cycle on a new tank. Added the bacteria and 4 drops of ammonia per gallon. Waited 24 hrs tested my ammonia, it is at 8.0 on the api test kit. Is that crazy? And what should I do obviously don’t add anymore ammonia?

It seems that set of directions results in this happening sometimes.
You won't be able to see a decrease in ammonia for a while with it this high. Track NO2 nitrite instead. you will see it produced and increase first, before you see that dark green ammonia result go down.

No, you won't have to dose more ammonia anytime soon.
