I see it in the tank now, is that a purple tip
frogspawn to the right of it? It could be, that maybe a near by coral is stinging it?
have you tried any Dipping methods?
I’m sure more people can shine some light on this.
I’ve had purple tip frogspawn sting some of my other torches/hammers, when I’ve placed them to close to each other.
Check out this videos by Tidal Gardens, it may help you figure this out, if nothing else.

I have frogspawn and torches touching my my reef and it doesn't seem to be a problem but maybe because they grew into each other slowly and naturally. All my first few torches died how long has your tank been set up, I've read torches prefer biologically mature systems. Also what made you turn down flow I feel like with some of my past torches I wasnt getting enough movement through it.

I have a very similar looking torch, although my lfs said it was 'joker torch' but you probably know how names go in this hobby.

Also you probably have zero idea but wild caught plays a big role too sometimes, I had a torch from a lfs that would barely open till it died, I told him about it and he still had some frags which sure enough looked like mine had and said they were wild and probably not handling acclimation well. Also he had nicer aquacultured torches there fully extended so I knew it wasnt just crappy water keeping them closed.

Update: more frequent water changes never hurt either, I do mine weekly, if not biweekly.

I’d try dipping it in coral revive or coral rx....to make sure it’s not a pest or brown jelly disease

With what @hurcaluis said, I typically dont dip my corals, but could never hurt. I've honestly just never had a good experience dipping, it's not really gonna do anything unless theres pests a disease ect, if you do dip I heard dips with iodine are generally good, can't remember the exact reasoning, I use Reef Dip, by Seachem.

I moved it away about 3 weeks ago in a corner by itself I have bayer but I don’t think it’s a pest problem I have Redsea iodine could I use that as a dip?

The guy who had the colony had it for 3 years in his tank this is what it looked like when I picked it up in person

I would say do half the recommended dose in a container, but I normally use the Kent Marine iodine which is meant for dosing into the aquarium and dipping corals. I normally dose two drops of it in my aquarium per week. I had a gold torch get devoured by planaria flat wOrms, so it never hurts to dip. I believe you can also do a drop off peroxide per gallon, that might help stun any pest and help with any disease. I hope you find a solution, it’s a beautiful coral to lose
