Getting ready to glue.......am I missing anything? 4 baffles with #1 on far left. Should #3 be lower than #1? Also how do I know how much room I need for power outage?

My 28 gallon nano sits in front of a south facing window that gets 100% sun all day and about 18" from a wood burning fireplace that is used FREQUENTLY!! The only time I have ever had a problem is when it's hot outside and we have the windows open. It has less volume than yours thus it's more susceptible to temp swings via ambient air.

Looks great.
Please learn from my mistakes, check valves!!!!
If that is your operating depth in your sump there is not much room if a power outage happens.
It's always better to be safe.
I had a sump that was to small for my tank.
I put in new hardwood flooring in my dining room, the next day power went out from a storm, sump overflowed, destroyed brand new floors.
I was so ticked I wanted to take down the whole system.
I didn't, just upgraded to a 60 gallon sump.

You don't believe in using a filter sock? I'm new ..forgive if dumb question.
I'm new as well. The person that has been guiding me doesn't use and advised against it. I do have a sponge right before the return. He keeps on suggesting I lose that as well. His tank is pristine so it can't be all wrong. I do have a piece I made to add a sock if i want to at a later time. I will be adding rock in the sump area.

Hmmm. I heat my house with a fireplace insert. I have my tank in the same room as the insert and have not had any issues with the insert affecting the tank. However my tank is 15 feet away. With your stand being so close to the insert and being dark I suspect it will absorb a lot of heat. You might need a heat deflector /baffle between the tank and the insert. I would see what happens in the fall and be prepared to initiate a solution should you encounter a problem
