Drilling 1" ABS Bulkhead overflows

Heya all,
I'm hoping you guys can help me.
Starting a new tank.. a reef tank, but i can not figure out at what height should i drill the holes for the 1' bulkheads overflows in the back panel. I will use a bean animal overflow box.

2 to 3 inches down from the top. The top of your drill bit should be at atleast 2 inches from the top so it doesn't crack. I did mine at 2.5 inches but atleast 2 inches is completely necessary.

Aha... Ok.
And the level of the water in the thank it will be according to the placement of the overflow box.

I have never done it but watched it being done and learned go very slow with drill, no pressure and use some type of lube while drilling. That’s all I know good luck

I will not drill it myself... I can cut and drill the glass here where i work.... :D it will be machine done :D

The bottom for the overflow holes will be where the water level is so put the over flow in the tank and use a marker to mark the circle where you like the imaginary water level and use that for drilling.

Which overflow are you planning to use? Most come with a template to help you do the layout. If it uses 2 holes make sure they're perfect and level. Or your overflow will not fit or will sit crooked.

Eshopps over flows come with the template and the drill bit and the drill bits are amazingly good. If there is a problem with the overflow they will never return your messages though

I installed an eshopps overflow on a friends tank. Beautiful clean unit and the template was great. It was made of 1/4" acrylic so it also worked as a guide for the bit.
