Im wondering how close to the edge of glass can i drill a hole.

I have a modular marine overflow and drilling the side panel of 135 tank.

Hole is 2 1/4 inch in diameter. Leaves just barely 2 1/4 from edge of hole to edge of glass.

Will this be ok.

Typically, 1 to 1.5 x's the size of the drilled hole to the edge or to another hole.

Thanks for replies.

As long as it's not tempered, then that spot will be no different then the middle of the panel.
All tempered except side panels, id drill the back if i could

Typically, 1 to 1.5 x's the size of the drilled hole to the edge or to another hole.

So i should be good with the 1x size of drilled hole from edge.
2 1/4 inch hole drilled 2 1/4 inches from the edge.

I cant make any changes to this without getting a different overflow or different tank. Im just trying to make sure that when i fill the tank the panel wont break/crack.

1x is a minimum based on the thickness of the glass. What is the glass thickness?

Not 100% sure but id say 1/4 or 3/8 thick.

You may not want to hear this but if it is really a 1/4" then you're not going to want to go less that 1.5x's the distance. At 3/8" you should ok.

Not sure where you have it listed for sale or your asking price but Facebook marketplace has usually done right by me. Of course. There are CL, OfferUp and LetGo too.
