Im setting up a 75gallon tank and currently looking at what overflow to get.

I’ve been looking at the modular marine 1200gph over flow. It’s about 12” wide. I’m planning on doing a peninsula setup so I’ll be drilling the side which is 18” wide.

I’m also planning on running 2 return pumps however my question is, will 4 holes in a 18” wide piece of glass be too much?

Would all four holes be on one row or two on two rows? Not familiar with that overflow!

I'd suggest going over the top with the returns. You can drill a siphon break, so when you turn off the return it's not just draining till the level of your return holes. I drilled my returns on my last tank and never really liked it.

Yeah I’ve been considering over the top more and more. Is there any system you prefer or do you just pipe some pvc over it?

The overflow has two on the same row, so with the return it’d be 4 holes pretty much same height. Which I’m thinking may drastically hurt the strength of the glass

What size holes and the spacing between them makes a difference. I would still just prefer a couple 1 inch drain holes and a glass overflow as its clearly less effect on glass strength especially that ur only running about 1200 gph.
