Drying out live rock

Hello all I have some live rock that was in a rubber made container, it was sitting for 3 years it has no smell and seems fine. Currently drying it out to use for my new tank build. Once it dries out could I go straight to new tank with it or is there anything special I should do to it. Thanks walt

i would have in freshwater with streamer and skimmer for 3 days with waterchanges + eventual phosfate remover :)

everything will most likely be dead i think
whatever is still good will not dissapear by doing what i recommended :)

He does want dead stuff to start the cycle though. Save money on a shrimp.
So good bacteria no, none left. decaying organic matter yes. you want it to start the cycle.

So your both correct both methods work.
Another thought. Leave it in the tub, add old tank water if you have it. Skimmer or powerhead.
