Since you already have it in place just fill it up with freshwater and a couple of gallons of vinegar. Let it run for 24 hours, and drain it, and clean it, rinse it, and fill it up saltwater. easier said than done. Have fun with that :)

So do you think I should let the tank run for a day or so with fresh water

I used 2g when I cleaned my tank out. 6 is to much. As stated let it run for cpl days then it just wipes clean.

Looking good Luis!! This is just as exciting as when I was setting it and a lot less work:) I wonder if this is what it feels like to be a grandparent??

When I was setting mine up my return section was emptying too quickly so I opened up my drain section a bit and dialed back the return. It was almost impossible to find the happy medium but eventually it leveled itself.

My drain is underwater. Single 1.5" drain with a mag 18 running wide open on a 1" return.

I have two one inch drains dumping into my sump and they are sumerged and I have an iwaki md55 which is 1100 GPH and when I turn it on the water level on the over flow goes almost on top of the dorsal and were the water is dumping to the sump is pushing the water so hard that it splashes about 2 inches high it look like a hot top with the water jets going full blast

Pics bro. Else we can't help figure ur drain out. Drains should easily handle 1100gph. Are u using durso pipes?

Here is a video. Me and mike talk about it for a bit. It might be that my dorsal pipes are 1 inch and maybe need to do a bigger pipe plus the drain pipes going to my sump they are going to far down in the water so im gonna cut them. Also I migh change all the drain pipping going to the sump to 1.5

a pair of 1" dursa pipes should be able to handle the flow just fine. I ran the same pump on a closed loop that was 1" and it performed perfectly. I can drain my 180 with a single 1 1/2" pipe but I use two for redundancy. sounds like your durso's are setup properly or have some sort of air lock preventing full flow. Personally, I dont like my drain pipe under water. it can cause a backup. hopefully you didnt glue the tops of your Durso's together. if not, remove teh cap on the top and see how they are performing.
