I have a 180 Marineland with dual corner overflows. Doing a reboot of the tank, I have 4 MP40. Opinions on 2 per side or all 4 on back glass for best water movent to get detritus to the overflows. What does everyone think?

Probably just experiment and see what works. Every tank is different and rockscape has a lot to do with PH placement. I ran a 180g with dual hob overflows mounted in the corners and had four MP40s, two on each end. I had two up high and two down low.

Thanks, beautiful tank btw. Im even contemplating cutting out the corner overflows and going with a eshopps in the center 🤷‍♂️ it would give me more room in the tank.

Yep all different for sure and good advise with test, observe, and then correct. I would probably put them on the back glass though to start as back to front is shorter distance than side to side.

For no other reason than:

Sounds like it will be empty, reboot
Can probably run lower power
Run two instead of 4 and save the 2 spare wetsides for maintenance, cleaning (swap)

But yes - agree. Will always vary more so as the tank matures.

No the tanks pretty stocked. I had a seam leak. Ran and picked up a stock tank, put everything in there. Local pet store's holding my big fish. Currently the tanks drained on sawhorses and im resealing it. I was never a big fan of the corner overflows, but being a running tank I wasnt about to change it. Noe that its drained, its the time to do it if I was ever going to. 🤦‍♂️ decisions decisions... what would you guys do for ease of flow. 2 corner overflows or 1 center on a standard 180?
