Duncan Coral Issues

Hello! New to corals - is my Duncan okay? It looks like it’s residing at the base? It will open at times but has been close a lot more often. Thoughts? Tips to help him heal?

Assuming water params are within check, is the duncan in low-medium lighting and a lower flow spot in your tank? My exp is they are generally hardy and will recover well when put in the right place… again, assuming water param is good.

How much flow, how much light, what are tank parameters, etc.?

Duncan's don't like a ton of flow but they need some flow. They like light but don't like being blasted.

The flesh is receding at the base, but as mentioned above they are resilient and should recover if parameters are good.

It looks like a possible Aiptasia at the base? That could be annoying it causing the recession.

I thought the same - is there a way to remove aiptasia ON a coral? I know f-aiptasia could really upset or kill the coral.

Turn off the flow in the tank and then hit the Aiptasia. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then turn the flow back on.

Usually as long as you don't get it on the polyp itself you will be fine. But still, only get it on the aiptasia and avoid getting it on any of the flesh of the coral and like Tbrown said, turn off the flow.
