Do different types of duncans sting each other? The flow in my tank is too violent for euphyllia, but duncans seem to tolerate it. I want to create a "duncan garden" of sorts and I'm wondering if I can intermix different types.

Should be able to. From what read Duncan's are peaceful.

Mine handle flow pretty well. But not as good as the wife's swamp (nano)tank which has a nero 3 and is set to 45% maximum.

I have a gyre and 2 powerheads in a 75...

I tried putting a branching hammer in the location where I am putting the duncans and it didn't like it at all. The polyps on my duncans get blown all around at times, but they don't seem to mind.

I have four Red Sea ReefWave 45 Gyre Powerheads and two MP40s in my 210. There is a spot in the very center that is more sheltered, but that is where I have my goni's.

Was just wondering how densely I can pack the different duncans in there and if they will start stinging each other when they grow out.

I'm not 100% but dang near all Duncans look the same. They should act the same. The hammer can sting, but it's weak.

All coral should have room to grow, beware of packing as you call it. Think about the way euphyllia grow: in bushy large messes. Make sure you leave some room up and out or they might kill each other off... with shading more than anything....

I used to think this as well. Then I came across some light green short tentacle duncans at one of my LFS that look very different from my teal long tentacle duncans. I purchased those and put them near the teal ones. There is some room to grow, but eventually they will grow into each other.

Then I started searching online aquaculture shops like TSA and found a bunch of color variations.

I'd post a pic or a video, but another thread on diversity inspired me to break out the AF Lifesource and my tank is currently cloudy and the duncans are withdrawn.
