What makes Duncans grow the best? I have had one polyp for about 3 months with no growth. He is tough. He fell behide some rocks for about 3 weeks untill I broke the tank down to get him and he was fine, opened right up. I feed him, probably not every day but a couple times a week. What light and flow is the best? He is in a 20 gallon nano with 130 wts of pc. Water is prestine. He is the only LPS in there all the other coral is ricordea and some zoos.

Duncans are a deep water coral, so they do perfect at the bottom of the tank. They can do well in all types of flow but medium flow is ideal. Feeding them meaty foods will promote flesh growth. It takes quite a while for them to build up enough skeleton for easy fragging. I think when i got my first duncans there were 3 heads and i had several babies pretty quickly. I honestly never feed mine other than what the clown fish who host it bring back to it. They are a very hardy coral and will grow just fine if you decide not to feed it. They are just like other branching lps , frogspawn, hammer ect.. Calcium will help them branch out.

The secret to grow for duncan is to keep feeding it. I started with 2 heads about 2 months or so ago. I now have about 15 heads. Of course, some are just baby.
