Sps tank,lots of flow,,low nutrients,,Duncans will not open but alive..even in low flow areas ,,what's the story??

How low are your nutrients? My duncan did the same thing when NO3 and PO4 approached zero. My tank is now at 3 ppm and 0.04 ppm respectively and they look very happy.

How long has it been closed? Never opened from beginning?

I have 2 that are thriving (one from 3 heads to 12) but my tank is a dirty LPS / softie tank. Trates are run 20-40 but my stock seems to love it.

I have one that started as 4 heads. It was retracted for weeks while it grew out about 10 new heads then finally fully opened back up
