I have a fair amount of dust/particles flying around my tank. Does anyone know how to get the water crystal clear? I have floss, bio balls, carbon, course sponges and a skimmer currently in my filtration but its still like it and i dont know how to get rid of it....any suggestions?

Are you kicking up sand with your pumps? Is the sand super fine? Is the tank new? Is it dry rock not rinsed off? Could it be algae or bacteria? What type of filtration do you use? Size of tank? Any other info would be helpful.

Its a 120l new tank thats been going for about 3 months. Sand is course. Wave maker and pump isnt angles towards the sand bed at all so i would have thought its that. Rocks seem quite clean with no detritus in the tank. I cant even tell where its coming from

Is it an all in one (filtration section in the tank) or do you have a separate sump?

Maybe a white light picture would give someone an idea.

It looks like you got quite a bit of flow in it. Maybe try cutting it down a little bit? You said you had two power heads and the return? Maybe turn off one of the power heads and see if that settles. Maybe somebody else smarter than me can chime in also! :-)

I did notice you have a lot of surface film. I have a Red Sea all-in-one that I had surface film problem with. I added this little sun sun surface skimmer. It takes care of the surface film and add some agitation. I just have that in the return pump running in this tank.

Ive had a good look and the surface dust in just cycling round and round and some going into the grill and into the first chamber in filter but not moving down and through the filtration. Its just sitting behind grill and in surface of first chamber. I dont know how to get it to go through.

More than likely coming from the rocks. I had the same issue when I performed a water change and poured water over them. Kicked up a lot of dust. Felt socks might help

Maybe try turning off your Wave Maker for 24 hours. I still think it's sand finds and particles off the rocks. It's a very new tank.
