Obscure title, granted, but hopefully theres a discussion here, hang in there and lets illuminate.

So i'm currently pondering the lighting rig for a 300l cube HNSA, the root of this tank is Habitat and creating the optimal environs for it habitants, not unusual i know. With the proliferation of LED technology the ability to create dynamic scenes recreating various lighting states is the norm, but what about movement? Everyday the sun tracks across a reef creating hotspots and notspots, sometimes diffuse sometimes intense. As the sun tracks across the sky, photosynthetic lifeforms track the sun, some basking others reaching, at 10 am the notspot at the bottom of the reef becomes emblazoned for a couple of hours, symbionts working away servicing their hosts. At the height of the sun, par lovers wallow in joy, as the golden hour beckons, the sun sets on the other side of the reef.

Yes admittedly i waxed a bit lyrical there but i think it sets the premise. So, what now? ;)

Does anyone running multi light setups do this? I'm thinking of a 3 light setup; 2 Blades and a hydra edge. The blades are east and west (left - right), the hydra edge central; Sunrise, blade 1 begins a sunrise profile, red spectrum shifting through levels and wavelengths (edge and blade 2 start much lower than blade 1 but over the photoperiod to mid day they shift to 100% after mid day the lightsources 'pans' to sunset, the edge still cranking but shifting to the blade 2 through the golden hour. Similarly the moonlight cycle.

On a similar ponderance, seasonality? Anyone give their tank seasons? Could this be an answer to the overcrowding of mature tanks? Instead of 'stunting' growth through nutrient restriction, use seasonality!.

Thoughts or experiences along these lines anyone?
