Early QT release possible in this case?

I have 1 small Dr Fish Tang, 2 spanish hogfish and 1 flame cardingal in QT under 2.5 ppm of Copper Power and temp 28-29 C since June 6 (20 days) and planned to have them 30 days in QT.

This QT is merely preventive as i got them from the ocean (no signs of prior desease). During QT they have been eating perfectly and absolutely shown NO signs of any white spot or any other simptom of anything.

Unfortunately a 4 day work trip came up and need to travel tomorrow so i wont be able to care for them properly. Would it be safe if i remove them from QT early and put them in a main display (autofeeder and good filtration).? Or is there a risk involved on getting the other fish sick?

The risk is only not know if they are carriers of anything that has not fallen off the fish. Ich has a cycle as do other diseases. The 30 days is to cover for just about all of it when it comes to the cycle of these diseases. Did you get prazi done for the possibility of flukes and such?

There are the people that do the two weeks of copper, but then move the fish to a sterilized new QT tanks. Then hold them in observation for 2 weeks.

Anything can be a risk if you cut the protocol that medics here have come to the conclusion that works, short. Not saying that it can’t be enough, but if something does show up I would say you can’t be surprised.

I have done the two weeks and a sterilized tank transfer after that. And the fish was good being I gave it to a buddy of mine so I get to see the fish most of the time. Only reason I gave it away that early was I needed room for a new fish I was getting, and my buddy didn’t want to wait any longer.

Did you capture the fish yourself, or did they pass through a collector's tanks? If the former, they would be relatively safe to add to your display tank(s). If they went through a collector's tanks, they likely picked up disease issues like flukes that would need to be handled with praziquantel.

I would allow them to remain in quarantine protected rather than non protected as a method of prevention

The recommendations (if it's legal in the area you're at) is to quarantine wild fish for 4 weeks.
