I'm planning to buy an apex soon. I was looking into the EL....It is basically the exact same thing as the regular apex, except for three things (salinity probe and module, ORP probe and module, and the hookup to control a light (VDM module I think?)). All of these things can be added in the future to make the EL no different from the regular. Is this correct? Thanks.

Yes, that's correct. I once added up the prices and found that if you buy the Apex EL and then add the VDM, PM1, PM2, and the two probes, the total cost would be $129 more than if you just bought the full Apex up front. It will also take up more space in your cabinet. But if you're on a budget or don't need all those features, the EL is a great choice.

Agree if you can just get the full blown Apex.
In time you will wind up with it all anyway.

Thanks guys, just wanted some verification before spending the money. I’m questioning my need of those features, at least at this point in time and would rather not waste the money if I don’t need them yet.

Is The 0-10v port the one I would need if I was going to interface a gyre pump?

I have an APEX EL and have been perfectly happy with it. I haven’t found a need yet for the 0-10v port and can’t think of a reason why I’d need the salinity probe or the ORP probe. The 0-10v was the only one I have been worried about maybe needing someday. These things are available as separate modules if needed, but are part of the regular model’s head unit. So if you add them after they will take more space.
