Any advice on using Ebay -vs- Marketplace?

I'm looking for a nice looking bright anemone for a couple of Ocellaris to get host by....

Not looking for the Taj Mahal

Ebay
= on avg around $125-$150 for one's considered small 2-4" RTBA and the like

Marketplace = on avg around DOUBLE that at $300 - $500. Seems like the Marketplace is mostly super ultra collectors stuff..... where $150 gets you like a 3-tentacle nem, lol

Thoughts, advice???

Marketplace seems like the Lamborghinis of Corals and eBay is more like AutoTrader!!

Only thing I would say is the marketplace here is moderated and does have rules/guidelines in place. eBay doesn’t beyond paypal etc.

that said, I’ve seen many many frag selling threads it half inch acros for sale for $700 and up.

so pick you poison I guess

Local reefing club/frag swap is probably the cheapest route for me. Saves shipping (and a lot of stress for the anemone). Sometimes even get feebies if someone just wants it gone.

Doesn't anyone in your area sell regular rainbow or rose anemones? Every week someone in one of the ohio facebook groups is selling one for 20-50$ I sell mine for thirty and half the time i can't get rid of them.

My Petco only sells half-dead stuff. o_O
I guess it all depends where you live and who works at your local store. Petco in Monterey Ca has the nicest livestock in a 100 mile radius to me. They must have a department manager who actually cares about their job and knows how to care for aquatic life.

100x better than their morgan hill location an hour north near san jose :)
And 1000x better than petco online.

I have an LFS less than a mile away with 4 big salt tanks and they always have fish and inverts to choose from and I wouldnt shop there even for free...

Keep looking. I found a 6-8" rainbow on a Facebook group for $80.

I got mine BTA from a local hobbist. Look for and joing some local facebook groups, people will often posts there, you can also check out the Band app.
