I have 2 Vortech and 1 Vectra pumps. I have them each on a separate Ecotech battery backup.

The issue I have is when I use the Apex to stop them the batteries kick in and the pumps don't stop. This isn't as big a deal when feed, but when cleaning I have to unplug the batteries.

Any solution for this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Following! I am just about to set up my battery backups in a couple of weeks and did not consider this.

You should be able to just set the speed to 0 in those modes instead of powering them off completely and thus triggering the battery backup. I've done something similar before with a virtual outlet that when turned off it sets my powerheads to 0% instead of shutting the outlet off.

Maybe the new Neptune module for the Ecotech will allow me to do this. Right now I only have control of the outlet power through Apex.

Yes. I run the old WXM and have no issues. I can even turn them off during maintenance/water changes. Once you get the new MXM you will plug the pumps to the wall or regular powerstrip. Then the pumps will still be receiving power when you turn them off hence it wont trigger the battery. Don't recall if the Vectra is compatible with the old WXM. You could also control them with Mobius and wont have that issue ether. You will need to have your pumps in Mobius regardless with the new MXM.

WXM only works with the Vortech not the Vectra. I had the pumps downgraded in a previous setup, but with this one I wanted to take advantage of Mobius.
Even if I hit feed mode on the Mobius the battery will kick in. I haven't tried to mess with it to see if I could just turn down the pumps but was really looking for a 1 button solution. So that when I'm away and have the auto feeder going.

Thanks for the advice

I think having the pump on the EB832 is the problem. How about... in Mobius... At the time your auto feeder is on... You add a slow "feed" to the program like 10% for the amount of time auto feeder is on? I really think your best bet is going to be the MXM. You can plug the pumps to the wall and wont have the battery kick in while feeding. Actually... have you tested pluging the pumps to a wall outlet and checking if the battery kicks in when you hit feed in Mobius?

I haven't tried that. I would have to somehow sync things up so the apex would turn off the reefwaves and second return pump. I think you're right though. The MXM is problem my best bet. I just preordered it.
Thanks

As a heads up.... As of right now you cant sync or anti sync the vortechs but should be in a future update.
