BUYER BEWARE...read below
I want fellow members to be aware and find out if anyone else has had similar experiences..
1. Ecotech-Vortec Pumps MP 40...I purchased a pair of pumps about a year ago, a month ago I had the wet side just stop working, I contacted my LFS( who has used ecotech pumps extensively), he contacted the company..multiple times without any reply! I contacted company..again-no reply. I ended up buying a wet side assembly--pump working again...now, tonight the second pumps wet side went out too!!! no precipitating factors.

With NO customer service, a new ecotech part store---which charges ridiculously high prices for cheap parts..$2.50 for a nut!!!, I spent alot on these pumps and very pricey ones at that. for them going out in about a year---I think Im being swindled...and Im not happy about it...and the company doesnt care.

Doesn't sound like them at all, maybe it's a disgruntled employee. I know a guy who knows a guy, want me to get you some service?

If i contact them, i get an email the same or next day depending on time. Crap happens, but your story surprises me. Not saying it didn't happen, just out of character for them.

I contacted them last Friday about my MP20 not running lagoon or reef crest and I got a reply with a question yesterday, I replied yesterday but have yet to hear back.

If I email them it takes awhile for them to email me back. But when I call on the phone I've always gotten somebody to answer the phone.

I had to exchange a dry side last month and had no trouble at all contacting them. They returned emails almost immediately and picked up the phone on the first ring. I've had nothing but a good experience with their customer service.

Do these pumps need replacement parts on a regular basis???

There was a manufacturing issue a while back where something was milled a few thousands off on the MP40s. This has since been fixed on all new pumps and older pumps with the problem were fixed for free IIRC. I handle all warranty issues for the state of Hawaii on these pumps. It's a simple fix. You should not have any problems with these pumps any more. Only older MP40 models will have the issue.
