Editing Original Thread?

This question may have been asked before I'm not sure but why aren't we allowed to edit our original thread after a certain amount of time?

Sometimes my thread is a question for a problem I'm having and I want to put my solution after trial and error in the original thread topic for people searching for answers in the future.

You can put your solutions by simply adding another post to the thread. It's actually better that the original question is not altered. It creates a stream of information from the original "issue", through the proposed solutions and suggestions, and finally, and shall I say hopefully, a solution. Creates great content for future readers of the thread.
