And at the other lfs I got him from they were in ten gallon tanks and were still much larger eels that hadn't sold because they only typically sell the younger ones to people

No I'm referring to people who keep them long term even beyond growing up and getting larger, my point is this is definitely enough space to sustain him for a while longer he acts the same way as any other eel and is growing at a normal rate which I'm accounting for so I can get rid of him
Its definitely not enough space for that

That's completely different. No one thinks lfs tanks are good homes...

That's like saying you can keep a cat or dog in a cage ALL THE TIME because they were like that at the shelter...

Because they need a larger tank,specialized care,still doesn't make it ok !!

Good point, but they were definitely still thriving as this is mostly a reputable reef store
Obviously not if they sold you a snowflake knowing it would go into an 18 gallon tank!

I didn't say all the time.... I've been saying thats he's basically temporary and everyone ignores that

The guy advised me that once he gets close to full size I should get rid of him which I'm doing

Because you put an eel in an 18 gallon tank for no reason. Stock for the tank you have. Long term stock. Not I want to cramp an eel in an 18 gallon cause its small and just get rid of it and get another fish that has no business in that tank and repeat the process.

Maybe you guys should redirect your attention to all of the dying eel threads I'm seeing below this post. Those animals are actually not doing well and not eating or have another issue. mine continues to eat and be happy and swim throughout my tank when he wants

Probably like within the next few weeks
And thats the problem. He is going to be cramped in that tiny tank for “the next few weeks” for what reason? Because you want an eel and cant just wait on having one until you have an actual tank for him? @EeyoreIsMySpiritAnimal is right. Very sad.

Like @littlefoxx I wonder what made you think purchasing this was a good idea in the first place. By your own admission, you got it 4 months ago with the intent of rehoming it when it got "too big"... WHY??
