I would like to get some egg crate I will be adding a Fairy Wrasse. I would like something that is clear in color. Anyone know where I can get something that would work that is clear. I will stop at Michaels Arts & Crafts tonight. Would adding this prevent any of my light from coming through or make shadows in the water. I have a sunpod with 2 150 watt Halides. I once had a Wrasse but he never jumped but when I get one again I rater be on the safe side at first.
Thanks,
Adam

I don't think they make a clear light diffuser(egg crate) only white and silver to my knowledge maybe black as well but I have never seen clear it would be cool if they did.

Egg Crate

Does the egg crate make shadows in the tank? How about birdsnetting?

Yes it will make some shadows anything you put over the tank will change the lighting somewhat.

Has anyone else ever have a Fairy Wrasse that did not jump?

Eggcrate greatly effects light in a negative manner IME, especially with halides.

Use the birdsnetting from HD or Lowes in clear or black. Its available in different size holes as well.

ALL fish jump, especially fairy wrasses. Its only a matter of time, might be 2 minutes, might be 2 years. Regardless its not worth it IMO considering how easy it is to prevent.

Birdsnetting

Do they have clear birdsnetting at HomeDepot and if the fish jumped could the birdsnetting injure the fish?

Pick up some predator netting for ponds. Then go to home depot and buy some stuff to make a frame for window screening, including the plastic angles to assemble it all together. Put it all together and wallah, a 1/2" coarse screen with zero light attenuation and high UV resistance that will hold your wrasse in your tank and can be easily removed for cleaning, feeding, etc.
