Hey R2R! This tank replaced my 150 gallon acrylic tank. 48x30x24. We redid our whole lower level floors so I had to move it. I hated that it was acrylic and with planning to move in the next couple of years I wanted to downsize. I went from 360ish gallons to 170ish. I kept as much acro as I could and sold most of the the other sps and lps. The transfer took its toll and the coral browned out. Then I blasted it with too much light and bleached everything. Colors started coming around about a month ago but are still pretty pale. Anyways heres some info and pics of the build to get you up to speed.

Deep blue rimless 80

48" dimable 8 bulb ati

2x mp40qd controlled with wxm

Vectra m1 not controllable with wxm!???????

Reeflo orca skimmer...overkill but didn't want to sell it due to possibly a bigger tank after we move. I have the water going to it turned way down

Dual chamber calcium reactor

45 gallon refugium

75 gallon tank only filled halfway as a sump

Diy stand

Diy ats

The last shot of the 150

I have a pro mode on my phone where I can adjust the brightness and hue. If I take away the blue without adjusting the brightness everything looks washed out.

thanks for the reply; as you are with this combination very blue? the sandy bottom how high? sand that you used? as you keep it clean? does not lead to an increase of pollutants? also manage the tank with zeolite, carbon, food for corals or other?

At the peak of the light schedule it is bright white. When it's ramping down its on the bluer side. Peak is
Channel 1 two blue+ 75%
Channel 2 65%
I keep the light low to keep the light spill to a minimum. It is 7" off the water
I used 60# of Fiji pink. A little over an inch deep. I don't do anything to keep it clean but the mp40s stir it up in the middle of the tank. For feeding I just feed my fish limpits reef buffet

Those pics = instantly subscribed. Your tank is gorgeous, your scape is magnificent, and you're very clearly doing things right.

How do you manage nutrients, elements, feeding, etc.?

Tank looks great!
I noticed that the downsizing eliminated the plating montipora corals; which I can relate!

I'm interested in your programming of the Vortech pumps.
I've been interested in trying to mimic tidal flow in a reef tank and your use of staggered maximum flow rates caught my attention. Was there any research or experimentation done to achieve your desired program? What results have you seen with using such a program?
Whatever you're doing, it's working! Terrific growth and form with your SPS colonies!

And please tell us more about your system; filtration methods, dosing regime, etc.

Thank you! Ats, oversized skimmer and a 45 gallon refugium. I feed heavy with limpits reef buffet and lrs. I was doing a 30 gallon water change every other week but my corals were starting to pale out. I haven't done one now for a month and also turned my skimmer down. Hoping colors come around

I do like montis but I like acro more lol
I was just messing around with the vortechs and came up with that. It seems to be enough flow without rearranging my sand bed.
I have a calcium reactor and dose nothing else. Fuge skimmer and ats for filtration

Thanks for the info.
I need to try and add an ATS to my system. So many of the good tanks have one running to keep nutrients low.

Awesome tank!! Do you have a picture showing your tank with lamps?
