Is your furnace electric? water heater electric? Everything in our home is electric we don’t even have gas. During winter if it gets really cold bill may come in at 400 or so bucks. Just for a few months before it goes back down. Are there any other charges? like storm recovery?

Doesn’t sound right as that is not much electricity for what you added. I could see if you added a chiller or metal halide lights! ???

Hobby gets out of control quick with electric. The wife hates seeing the bill. But I have 6 tanks running, and adding a 7th soon.

My whole house is around $150 a month and I have an electric water heater and clothes dryer. We run a small space heater(1500 watts) in the bedroom now in the evenings. That usually adds $30 to our bill.

My guess is meter reading like said before. Many times my meter was estimated then they actually came out and got a read. Ouch. But then I was in Calif and I dont know how I could have afforded a tank.

Check for something else, that sounds like a huge spike.

What size is the tank?

Yeah $150 for what you’ve added is a lot. My electrical bill is another $100 or $125 with the addition of a 500 gallon wall tank...

My 400G hot tub was $75-80/mo

Do you use budget billing? If so they usually take an average over 3-6 months and divide it equally.

That’s a pretty serious increase. If it came from the tank it’s the heater. Still seems high though. Typically a hot tub will add $100-150/month this time of year.

Holy cow. How big is your house? I live in AZ in a 2,500 sq feet house, and my electricity last summer was $350-$375 with MH and of course, AC. I thought that was expensive. I get that bill about 4 months of the year. AC accounts for most of the electricity cost Others months are less and in the winter months, my electricity bill is about $150/mo, but natural gas bill has gone up quite a bit for heating.

Part of the hobby yes.
I averaged $74/month. Set up 360g with many lites and components and went to $124/mo average. I now have 3 systems and am at $196/mo average. Is it worth it....... Yes. Am I pleased with bill - No. Is there any way to cut this down - Maybe.
Everything is at optimum so I will live with it. Then add Air conditioning during the summer and I can add $26/mo to that bill
