Elegance and unknown coral

Hi.
Got this elegance about three months ago. Bought it like this at a discount. Was hoping it would be better by now but hasn't changed much.

Opinions? Experiences?

And what is this second one. It's really hard like carbonate skell. But colorful. Got it today in a rubble tank at lfs.

That's how they looked when you bought them? if so they are definitely hanging on to a thread but the elegance looks horrible and what ever the white thing is I have no idea.

This is what a healthy elegance should look like. This was the day after I got mine.
