Not sure if tank emergency yet?

I just bought a elegance coral 6 days ago it
was doing good until today. I got home from work and noticed only half of it was open and some slime was coming off the closed side . I also noticed 3 dead hermit crabs in tank . I put it in a low flow and medium light area of the tank I also gave it some rods food 2 days ago. I took it out and did a dip on it and also noticed some pinkish red spiky things growing on its skeleton. I cleaned them off too and put it back in aquarium. Is there anything I can do to save it also will it kill anything in aquarium if its dying? Seems odd to find the dead hermit crabs. I did a test of all my water parameters yesterday they were good.

Is that pic when your lights are going down/coming up? Does it open up during the day?

Hmm may still be acclimating. They are a lot like torches/hammers/frogspawn. Mine all begin to retract about 1-2 hours before lights out. Totally normal. I would just keep an eye on it. The retraction looks pretty normal to me.

It could be brown jelly disease. Try to siphon any jelly out, you don’t want to blow it off as it can be contagious to other corals. If you can get a pic of it with jelly on it that would be good. Again it still could be acclimating. Did it jelly up after you fed it or just out of the blue?

Mine went through a similair phase after I ran out of Manganese & Iodine reef supplements, but bounced back as soon as I started dosing again, yours looks great now, is it an australian Elegance Coral?

I know. Doing a water change tomorrow 20% with coral pro salt it will go up . But got so many corals now I guess I will have to start dosing. Was hoping the red sea coral pro salt would take care of it doing a 20% every week but only the Mg stays good .

One thing is for sure this is the best and worst hobby ever. I lose weight over worrying and gain extream pride when it works out. I love everything about it.

Well described. Surprised the coral pro hasn’t kept up with it. You are doing weekly water changes? Not sure what your load is though. I guess I know the day will come when I start two part as I’ve already bought everything but hey...
