All your parameters are fine except alk which is really low, slowly increase your dosing to get that number up to at least 8 dkh

This is getting into a discussion outside the LPS but how do I raise alkalinity alone? I read that for b-ionic you want to do both equally. Should I switch to a different dosing brand?

Alright everyone, so I have numbers for you.

Salinity was 1.024
Temp 78.7
Ph 7.94
Nitrate 4-5 ppm
All 6.72
Ca 440
Mag 1360

The magnesium seems to be the most off. Would this be affecting the coral and what is the best way for me to raise mag? I have some B-ionic 2 part I’ve never used before. Could start dosing that

Your alk is low. You should try and bring that up to around 8ish at a minimum. Your mag doesn’t seem low. pH could stand to be raised a little.

I’m not familiar with b ionic, but you could get a separate alk dosing supplement and add maybe 1-2ml extra per day and adjust from there and you should see that number rise. The key is raising it slowly should take you a week or week and a half to get to 8 and then just maintain from there

I would just use a little baking soda (sodium bicarbonate). Calculators online to input water volume current alkalinity and desired alk. BRS has one on their website

So I wanted to provide a bit of an update. I’ve been raising my alkalinity and the elegance is doing much better! Still hasn’t fully opened but I’m still tweaking my alkalinity so I’m hoping once I stabilize, it’ll fully open.

I did start to get a small Dino outbreak on my rock though. I am hoping this is just due to swinging my parameters and once things stabilize, I hope it goes away

Raising it a little to quickly monitor all your corals I would just hold it steady at 9 and let the corals adapt that’s a good number to be at.

Was trying to limit to 1 dkH a day increase. Still fine tuning the amount of esv 2 part needed, I’ve slowed down now.

Some parameters are off.
Aim for close to these numbers but do not chase numbers to achieve certain readings

Temp 77-79
salinity 1.025
ph 8.1-8.3
CA 450
Mag 1300
Alk 8-9
Moderate light and water flow and feed suspended foods. Mine was size of a softball and now Soccer ball

Thanks!
What food do you recommend? I feed goniopower twice a week since I also have a goniopora but I don’t get much of a feed response from anything when I do

I feed mine small mysis and brine shrimp about once a week and they are pretty consistent about eating and opening up after (fed yesterday so it’s still a little closed) I’m not sure why the tips fatten up, but after a day or so it usually stretches back out. Weird creatures! Lol
