Some how this important bit of information flew under my radar in previous research. I guess that's not too surprising because I don't see this mentioned in care guides from several major vendors, and it's only a "side note" on this Tidal Gardens video.

When I search other threads about this I see plenty of confirmations that this is accurate. However, there seems to be some debate as to the severity of the problem, and the kinds of animals impacted. One person suggested they put off pheromones that actively attract snails. Someone said theirs ate a conch too. There's also a story about a larger specimen eating (presumably live) fish under a previous owner...

Most of the threads in question only had 4 or 5 people chime in so I'm hoping to get a little more discussion around this topic and more experiences captured.

Mine did take out a couple snails but it was fairly infrequent - I lose more snails to my wrasses than I did my elegance (I had to remove it due to being too large in the nano and my butterfly would nip it too much in the big system).

I have not noticed losing snails, or finding them dead around my elegance. Still have snails in my tank, and have not bought any snails for the last 2 years. I have the elegance for more than 3 years now.

What kind of snails do you keep? Gorgeous coral!
In all honesty, I don’t really know.
Some turbo snails and nassaria or something? The ones that dig up the sand. Also a few random ones of which i’ve no clue what they are.
