When a thread gets active while I'm on the site, I get emails constantly for every post as they happen, even though I'm parked right there on the thread reading it. Mostly I just check in and look at the alerts/news feed page to catch up on the threads I'm involved in.

Is there a way to just get one daily digest email or something?

Check your settings here: https://www.reef2reef.com/account/preferences
You can also "unsubscribe" from any particular thread - there's a link labeled as such at the top of the first post in every thread in the black bar on the right hand side.

Thanks, yeah I turned off the emails. I was hoping maybe there was a more in-between option instead of just all or none.
There is this option:
Receive Unread Watched Threads Digest
You will receive emails showing you your watched threads that have replies that you have not seen.

In this section: https://www.reef2reef.com/account/contact-details

But to my knowledge, that one doesn't really work; not sure why. @revhtree ideas?
