So a little new update. First things first , is that I am finally taking my board exam , or my NCLEX exam to hopefully become a nurse [emoji67]‍⚕️, on the 2nd of January! So hopefully all will go well on that !! !!

Here is a update on the build which I am sure all of you all want to see , I am not totally done but it’s a sneak peak at the controller set up for my build.

Like I said just a sneak peak of how it’s going to get installed . Once I am officially done . Then I’ll post everything on how I did the build/install of my GHL P4 . Thank you so much !

Update time !! I finally finished my install on my GHL P4 !!! Toke me awhile but I think I am happy with it and done [emoji736] with the install !

So my inspiration mostly for this installation came from the one and only Reef in the Sky who I have taken a lot of inspiration from , here is that install .. to help compare to mine when I post the final picture.

So I loved the way he installed it and set it up. So I wanted mine to kinda be along the same lines of being nice and clean . So with that being said I started on my project of my install!

Here we go :

To start I needed to create more depth my locker is only about 6in deep an I needed about 8in with the P4 . So I used some 2x2in lumber to put in between my locker and my stand . Then painted the lumber black to match the stand.

So from the support frame for my locker I now needed to create more space in my locker . So I picked up some metal blades and went to work ..

c2acc45db67ca3da9806bdc225439879.heic

And created a large 2x9in opening in my locker for the new spot of my P4.

So now I moved on to my next project was a shelf for my P4 .. I used some scrape wood from my garage and it was made..

So now that the shelf was done I need a sheet of plywood to mount my Power Bar 5.1 and my Tripp-Lites on to..

So now with everything done it was time for som paint and cable management in my locker !

P4 shelf and Bubble Magnus Doser shelf ..

Yes I went blue of course !

Powerbar 5.1 and Tripp- Lite mounting board ..

Painted black to hide in the locker !

And now the finished install of the P4 and power sources..

Thank you for reading this long post I really hope you all enjoyed it and liked how I installed the P4 . So my after thoughts, I know it’s not a exact copy of the Reef in the Sky one . But I think I got fairly close to the best that I could given my stand / locker and constraints. But the end result is that I am finally happy with the install , and that’s all that matters. I hope you all like it . Thank you again for coming along on my Embarking of this new and exciting Reef Journey !!

Please let me know your thoughts on my install of my GHL P4 and Power Bar 5.1 + Tripp- Lites ..

Thank you again for reading and making it this fare into my post .. Happy Sunday everyone !

Looking good. I am tinkering with my electronics cabinet now. Maybe should have left myself a little more room. :)

This is an awesome build, the attention to detail is solid. Very well done and looking forward to updates.

Thank you very much DSC reef! That means a lot to me to hear those words. I am currently thinking of building a new sump for my build and that’s why my build is a little bit on a stand still .. but thank you again !

Great build. When you get a chance let me know how the P4 is. I havn't pulled the trigger on a controller but have been leaning heavily towards the P4.

Thank you very much Smprc! In all honesty I still need to setup/ program my P4 . But I will once I get that all done. The only way I was able to get the P4 is due to the fact that Black Friday deals were great and , my wife ordered it for me (P4) / and my XR15PRO’s !! Got to love her ! The only reason I have not programmed it is due to the fact that I am trying to focus some on my state test !

Ok R2R, I am thinking my build my take a different turn, all of a sudden .. !

When I was doing water test with just FW a little bit ago . I noticed that when my return pump would shut of that my sump (a 20L) would fill pretty high with the draining form the overflow and tank. So with that being said it kinda freaked me out. Plus the fact that I could not predict how much drainage from the DT would go into my sump when I was first design my build. So I thought now was the time to make a change, for the better. So I decided to designing/build a different sump , a larger one , and yes I am still keeping it DIY .

I currently have been watching the new ULM series form BRSTV and am thinking of adding a Refugium to my build /filtration! Also with that being said I am thinking of trying the Triton Method , and building a fuge first in the sump design.

The second option is that I’ll be adding a Frag section to my sump. I only say this , for the reason that during this whole last 6-8months I was thinking I was going to be using all AquaForest product on my build . From what I I have seen, these tanks are breath taking. So instead of a fuge section first it would be a Frag section in my sump/stand , lite up by my Frag tank XR15PRO G3. This would allow me to keep everything in one system , instead of balancing two independent systems . As well with the AF products I really would not need a fuge in the system.

That last option would be building a larger more open sump , Berlin style .. with a large section for equipment pretty much .

So I wanted to ask you all R2R what style sump you all think I should go ?

Currently I am thinking the style with a fuge/Frag section first in the sump.

So please give me your input on this for my build please !!

So I am posting my ideas that I measured out for all the style sumps that I just described . It’s not exact size but a very close to actual size of the sump. So please let me hear all your input on which style sump you all think I should incorporate in my build now !

Here are the specs in my head /phone :

New sump layout ideas for the 75g

Triton or Frag Section in sump ( If I use AF )

Size : 36in x 16in x 15in

Refugium/ Frag : 15in x 15.5in x 14in (13.6g )
Skimmer : 9in x 15.5in x 9in (5.3g)
Return. : 5in x 15.5in x 9in (2.9g)
ATO. : 4in x 15.5in x 15in (3.9g)

Sump total = 21.8g
Sump total w/ATO = 25.7g

Other Sump Design : Berlin Style

Size : 36in x 16in x 15in

Filter media area : 6in x 15.5in x 9in (3.74g)
Skimmer : 15in x 15.5in x 9in ( 9.35g)
Return : 6in x 15.5in x 8in (3.3g)
ATO : 6in x 15.5in x 15in (6.2g)

Sump Total = 16.4
Sump Total w/ ATO = 22.6g

Thank you all for reading this update , and choosing to Embark on this Journey with me !

I am looking forward to your input , please let me see what you all think R2R.. thank you !

I feel either option is a valid option, fuge or frag. Personally I see a frag section possibly making you money later where a fuge is just exporting of nutrients. I like the aquaforest products too and feel either option would set you up for success. I am curious to see what others think.
