Hi all, 3 months ago I bought an engineer goby and added to my bio cube. He immediately burrowed in the sand and would make an appearance every morning. One day he quit coming out and my crabs and bristle star were crowded in a burrow under the rock. I thought for sure he was dead and the CC was feasting… today during a tank cleaning and spot feeding some corals he slithers out and has changed from stripes to blots and has grown from 2-3” to 4-5”. How could he live so long without really showing himself ever during feedings etc? I’m super happy I saw him albeit so briefly. At least he is alive I guess!

@vetteguy53081 is that normal? I have a high fin goby and he would come out every time he saw me. For the past two days, I have not seen him even peak out. I'm nervous, like a mom who can't find her kid. lol
Does it come out for food at feeding?

That’s my exact experience. He disappeared for a while and I thought he was gone, and then low and behold he comes back out looking different and much larger. Now he likes to hide in the rocks but pokes his head out often. Really cool fish!

Yes, that's when he would come out, every time. Today is day two I haven't seen him. He didn't come out.
You may after tomorrow have to go digging/removing rock
Also, hate to say but check floor around tank and in the overflow
