When you calibrate the doser you tell it how many rotations equals how many mL of liquid. When you tell the doser "5 mL" it reads it as "4.78 rotations".
Yes, but when you calibrate for a 10-inch tube it might give 4 rotations, but to dose at a distance of 30 inches you would need maybe three times as many rotations to dose the same amount? because if I'm honest with you, I never calibrated my doser and now I have doubts, because I think I dose 6ml every two days but in reality I don't know how much I dose, I always adjusted it based on what the tests told me.

The dose you calibrate for doesn't include the tubing. You preload the tube manually, then calibrate. The tubing only matters for my experiment because I have to empty the tubing.

You? abnormal things? Sounds about right. This is a great example of why you are a Mariner. So helpful and a great teacher.
 
Hmmm, maybe that’s what I need to do. Mine will crash after 2 or 3 times. Can’t seem to keep it going long term.
Same. I think it’s because I’m using Live Phyto instead of a Live Phyto culture. So there are already impurities in the Phyto that increase with each batch.

Not at all, the idea is great, What you would need to do is set the doser to 20 or 30 ml and see how many ml come out at the tube end and then adjust the quantity more or less until you get the result you want.

So Luis, to touch a little bit on the discussion about calibrating - what I would do is first calibrate the doser head so it calculates the total number or rotations required to dispense exactly 25 mL.

After that is done, I would empty the flask again, take the suction hose out of the liquid and dispense all the liquid from the tubing into the flask and take a measurement. That would tell me exactly how much liquid the tubing holds. If I wanted to dose 6 mL (your previous exam) but the tubing holds 26 mL, if I flushed the line after each dose I would set a dose of 32 mL and a backwash of 32 mL to refill the container or, if air flushing or purging to a separate container (or the tank), I would go closer to 50 mL.

I was thinking of the most rustic way lol, testing with water, putting a random number of ml and testing until I got the required result but your idea is much better, because I was wondering if absorbing air can affect the force at which the liquid is pushed by the doser.
 
The Jebao dosing pump you have is it the WiFi one ? I am getting the 4 head, but have not decided on the pump with or without the wifi

Mine isn't the WiFi one.

The pump we're currently discussing is the Hydros Minnow though. It's capable of forward and reverse.

I will say with the Jebao the only trouble I've had is when I had it at the top of the tank level and was dosing into the sump one of the dosing heads didn't completely stop the flow of the liquid and NeoPhos was siphoned slowly into the sump.

Also @Mschmidt had at least one head run away and dose his entire container of alkalinity into his tank at least once - I believe it may have been twice?

Yes, potentially, because water and air compress differently. But it shouldn't affect it much.

Side note: a delay off timer can be added but you will need to open the case and tie into the pump power and ground wires, about $20 added cost per pump. the timer will allow adjustable on times. lets say 3 min. max on time. the timer will not reset until the power to the pump is cycled

I made an on delay timer for my skimmer for when the return pump is turned back on.
