ESHOPPS Mariner 70 Build

I need to get my 3D printer back up and running. Its currently in the basement on a table. My office got turned into a nursery and it lost its place on my table
The struggle is real, i too feel the void where my office once was. Solidarity brother!

Big word incoming!

I started the reprint last night with PLA supports and the print failed pretty quickly - I'm fairly certain my PETG was dampish. I replaced the silica in the AMS and let it sit overnight.

Big word? I had an epiphany last night! This stupid thing is a 4 hour print and it keeps failing towards the top (except this last one that was a fluke). It uses a TON of support to support the top of the clip for the pump. Epiphany? I flipped it on the side. Now it has a small row of thin supports under the hanger and two for the clip. 4 hours reduced to 1.5 hours AND it eliminates the "tall print wiggle" factor. I'll be printing it here around 6.

The other nice thing about printing it this way is instead of the layers holding the weight so if any single layer fails the whole print fails - now each layer is vertical when hanging so instead of each layer having to be fused properly for strength, each layer can independently hold the weight of the gyre! Built in strength and endurance.

Next: redesign the IceCap 2K vertical hanger and reprint it!

Horrible picture (it's in almost full shade in the way back behind the Birdsnest)

My Darth Maul Porites was pure white a few weeks ago (before I got rid of the BIG Birdsnest that was blocking it) but it's making a comeback!

I haven't touched this tank in probably close to a month. The Strats have exploded, the Bowerbankis are opening up fuller than they have in a long time, the Scoly hasn't looked happier in forever, the Christmas Favia went "Bounce" again, the Dragon Soul is super colored and fluffier than I've seen it in a while...

Something was off and it has since straightening itself out without my intervention.

Water change is ready to happen and suck some GHA out

My Birds Nest was also blocking light on a couple of corals. Hopefully they start coloring up as well.

To give you an idea, here it was a day or two before I removed it:

Ok, in all it's ugliness:

This is a vast improvement from where it was prior to the water change and GHA removal but I stirred up a bunch of junk. Getting ready to resnow the tank.

I know it was imposing itself on the tank and needed to be trimmer, but man that was a beautiful birdsnest!

The branches on mine are much thinner, do they bulk out as the grow or is that just what my type is going to look like?

Different varieties most likely. Does yours have blunt or sharp tips?

Sharp tips! Think it was a jade dragon from TSA

My tank is 36" by 21". The Birdsnest was 15"+ by 13"+.

Yeah, sharp tips is a different variety.
I was completely off with the name but it's a birds of paradise! Noted on different varieties for sharp vs blunt tips. Another thing to be on the lookout for!

Very blue because we're on the phone and can't get the other camera out right now due to being on baby duty! Still a very nice looking piece.

Hesitant to put anything on the rock work with the plan of moving tanks so my frag racks are multiplying. At least I'll have space for stuff if I ever end up fragging put stuff once it grows.

That looks to me like a Fiji Pink Bird's Nest, very traditional. Is it growing for you?

Color may be a bit off cause I was shooting through an orange filter, would have been completely blown out blue without it.

Green branches with blue polyps. I'll be honest in that I do not have great benchmark photos to track and see if it is growing. It has had beautiful PE for me basically since it went into the tank so its at least happy with where it is at right now; or at least I think it is. Will see if I can trawl through my photos and find anything that lets me more accurately track growth.

After reviewing some photos from ~ August 20th I can say I think it is growing, but it was never a directly focused on picture so hard to really tell how much lol.

I'll stop blowing up @tbrown's thread with my pictures and rambling now 😁

I will say the green slimer is 100% growing! Has new PE on the tips and what was burnt on the tips / bleaching a bit is already coloring up well.

The guy that gave it to me does say it grows like a weed and was trying to create new local stickheads. Heres to hoping I can one day frag this thing out and help spread that love :)
