I had the same question. The plastic plate that holds the filter socks is not water tight and allows water to drip into the sump compartment. It is very loud. Seems like a manufacturing flaw.
yes, i replaced the socks with the bio cups. I feel they were expensive and should've came with the tank or at least a discount given due to the horrid design of the filter socks. They need someway to tighten the socks down... It was super annoying dealing with the sound for 3-4 days after changing the sock... Then when it would finally settle It would be time to replace the sock. :face-with-rolling-eyes:

Anyone considered replacing the ball valves with gate valves to make adjusting easier. Seems like every time I turn the pump off I have to spend time adjusting again to get it semi quiet
I considered it initially, but now now that I have it dialed it even when the pump comes back on its still pretty silent. I did have to turn the flow from my pump down a whole lot. A lot more than I expected to keep it quiet.

Yes eventually I will. The ball valves don't cut it. It is hard to turn it to the right amount without going too far in either direction and basically having to start from scratch. Especially when it has to be so specific to keep it from having too much water. gurgling down the emergency overflow but enough to not have loud splashing in the overflow.

Tank is going well

Are people pretty happy with their Eshopps Mariner aquariums? I am leaning towards ordering a peninsula soon but can't find a whole lot about them and they seem like they're newer tanks. Hoping for a black Friday deal.
I'm happy with my Mariner for sure! The Peninsula tank looks awesome.

Happy with my 100. Can’t speak to the peninsula but I suspect it’s just as nice.

They just had a sale after RAP that ended 9/30. But maybe again soon.

Yea, im enjoying mine. I believe the peninsulas have the newer version sumps (dont quote me) If i had the newer version Id be 101% happy, right now im just 100% lol Also, the height of my M100 stand is *chefs kiss*

Yes they do include the newest sump and having doors on both sides there is aluminum built into the stand .

Interested in getting the 100. What is the plywood stand like, this is my biggest hesitation. Looks like all the tanks under 180 are marine grade plywood, are there support beams on these stands?

There's a center brace to separate the sump section from the "storage" section on the 70. I can't speak to any of the others.

Its awesome. Short of having an actual aluminum frame, it feels pretty high end. each piece of plywood is very heavy and feels like a good quality plywood that is well protected with the marine grade paint. Can a carpenter make something better? Absolutely, but I compared it to other stands and it is on the better side.
The perimeter is adequately supported. On that note, I would add that they even extended the top piece to support the front pane of glass, so that not part of the HEAVY display is hanging off, as is the case with some other companies. There is also obviously a partition between the sump area and your ATO/electronics etc area. I am sure that carries some load as well. I would not for a second think this stand has flaws. The only PITA for me was putting on the doors so that they lined up perfectly with the recessed handles. But im also not super handy. I am actually setting up my 100 on the 14th which is when my live sand is arriving.

if you were nearby, I'd show it to you.

The tank is even more impressive if you haven't seen one in person yet.

No, I do not work for Eshopps or get paid to speak on their behalf, lol. I just like what I see so far. 4 year warranty- Nyos, for example, has a 1 year warranty (which took me forever to obtain from them).

The only thing I am a little bit regretting is why didn't I go up to the 130, but I weighed the pros and cons.

Super helpful, I appreciate the info…think this is the route I’m going to end up going. Can’t fit the 130 so makes my decision easier lol, but curious as what your reasons are for the 130 over the 100 or is it just the size difference? Thanks again man!

My pleasure-

In my weird head, 5 and 6 foot tanks just look... grand. They have that whoa factor. If I went from my Nyos 70g to a 130, it would double my dosing costs and much of the equipment would need to be upgraded as you know. I do water changes weekly and the maintenance takes a good amount of my time between scrubbing rocks and glass. It would just take too much time that is precious on a weekend.

Another reason I like the stand for the 100 is that it sits higher than my Nyos, and it has leveling feet as well. The top piece also has well padded leveling mat, like a thin yoga mat. I feel like they went above and beyond on the construction.

if I could change anything or suggest anything to Eshopps, it would be to mimmick what Nyos does with their tanks and do an external overflow instead of internal.

I went to a some-what local LFS that had the M180 and the MP100 on the show floor. I've been interested in getting the M180 myself and I must say the stand on both tanks feel really good and I like them ALOT better than the IM stand for my SR80. Overall I would say it's super nice and exceeded my expectations.
