is the first chambler able to be "modified" to support a filter roller instead. i know it will require cutting out some of the acrylic and was wondering if the yellow acrilic was structual or just for flow direction?

I do. I believe, unless mine is completely different, there is a plate that can be removed to change from socks to a filter roller.
