It is exactly what you want it to be. Sometimes I get lost... sometimes it’s all about the science, others it’s just overwhelming. I absolutely love my tank, it has become a central part of our home. My wife is now an avid reefer! The corals she picked out are doing so well.

Indeed i fell in love with the challenge, i was a freshwater guy myself but cant see myself go back to that lol only been in the saltwater hobby for 6 months and love how much ive learned ( some lessons harder then other i must admit lol ).

That's still me. I get lost in th viewing of the tank. When I add something new I start to stress. When I do that I don't view the tank.

My first "reef" was in the 1980s, and we used VHO lighting. (Metal Halides were only for the rich. :D) Anyway, it was so exhilarating to watch xenia, mushrooms, anemones and other photosensitive creatures grow/propagate. I remember thinking how clean the water must be for them to do so well. It wasn't until years later that I learned how soft corals actually do better in "dirty" water. :p

I'm only 4 months in, so I look at my corals every day when I get home from work. Sometimes have my kids check them when they get home from school. I question every little change with polyps. As I try to learn new things, I discover other things. It's an art and a science for sure.

One month in I added a Zoa and Clowns, which quickly died.
Was very impatient in the beginning, but have learned to take my time and RESEARCH before buying anything :D

Check your parameters, it's fun to see the changes. I failed to do this in the beginning, never got to see the bad parameters that i used to have.

Tank is now 17 months old and thriving

My first two corals. March 19, 2017 20170319_225732.jpg

They were exciting times. I had my hands in my tank almost 24/7.
