Exinia as I filter????

So I was messing around and saw someone did a "exinia bed filter " and people say it's a good idea if you can control it any Ideas what I did is put my exinia in a part of my over flow box (it's hob) so that I can get the exinia to potentially cover the inside but ill be keeping in check very very closely and I was told they'll eat any kinda free floating organics

I am the absolute worst speller lol. Anyway, Xenia will take up DOC (dissolved organic carbons), urban legend has it that Xenia thrives in nutrient rich water as well. Xenia however is a picky coral and does not grow for everyone in every tank. The corals actual filtering capacity would not compare to a decent skimmer or enhanced biological filter. You could conceivably do the same with multiple soft corals such as Colt corals, plus it's any easier coral to grow. Anthelia is another.

It can not hurt to try it if only out of curiosity. You would have to have a way to provide sufficient lighting to the HOB.

There is ample lighting to it it's on the intake of my hob overflow I'm running a protein skimmer with hopefully soon a phosphate reactor and dsb with macro algae and carbon
