Hello,

I have an exterminator coming tomorrow to treat my place for roaches and I was wondering how I can keep my various tanks and inhabitants safe.

All advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Cover tank with a blanket and evan a tarp and run a fan across tank to direct fumes away from tank

Should the towel be wet? The company suggested that…
Yes- better yet so the fumes dont penetrate the dry fabric pores. The harp will also serve as a barrier to fumes

Not sure which method, but I can definitely cover the tank…
That should be good .
do you have to leave for a few days or is it safe for you to be there and breath what ever they’re doing ?

The reason I ask . If it’s a spray or aerosolized into the room , a simple cover might not be effective

I was told I can enter the apartment after 4 hours.

Ouch
Makes me wonder what they use .
I was always to the understanding roaches can live through a nuclear explosion
Crappy landlord who is cheap as can be. If I see roaches again though I won’t be paying rent. My lawyer will write a nice notice to him hahahaha

If you can put an air pump outside where you know if won't suck in any fumes and run airline tubing to the tank, you can create positive pressure under the tarp so it forces air out of the tank cocoon.

Instead of fabric, maybe you can use plastic wrap (Saran wrap)? It forms a tight seal, and it's easy to maneuver it to wrap around equipment. Just an idea!
