Anyone have tips/tricks for trying to de-stress?
Without going into too much detail-work and home life are super stressful and it’s really the first time I can’t find a way to deal with the stress. Usually I just dive back into hobbies or find some fun diy project but that’s not cutting it. I’ve been sleeping a lot and just binging on fb videos every night after work.
im sure people have some handy tips or tricks to help-so what do you guys do to reduce stress?

Usually I self medicate, which is somewhat effective, but terrible advice.. The only thing that I've ever found that helps me is to exercise, whether its walking on the incline trainer or jogging. To make the incline trainer more tolerable I hooked up a tv and PS4 and play games while walking the bridge to nowhere lol.

I go outside and kick a bush (true story).

Be that as it may what I have done over time is:

1. Talk to a trustworthy friend or family member
2. Drive - safely of course - but my point is I would hop in my car and take a couple hour drive to relax
3. Work on something such as another side hobby - I am learning to turn pens and vases
4. Read
5. Organize and clean out in my garage
6. Work, walk, and play with my German Shepherd
7. Movies
8. Games

Detoxing or escaping reality due to stress or real life is a challenge especially when half the world is closed off due to C19. Depending on other situations or location (wild fires, weather) it can be the trifecta of stress x 10. The challenge is different for everyone. I really don't have an answer. I wish I did.

My wife dislikes being locked up in the house during C19 and the fires out our way. To me it is no big deal :) I'm happy in my home and there is more than enough to do. To help her we get in the car and go - about the only way she can keep it together.

I've been on some pretty lonely deployments in my life and found myself in a few ruts. Those ruts lead me to bad acting and habits which then I found myself in a benjo ditch (another true story). I think for everyone hobbies are a start as is friends and family. Interaction, etc.

I guess balance in it all. I wish I had more other than offer what I do or have done.

Go for a walk or exercise. I’m a scratch golfer so I like golfing, but it makes most people’s anxiety and anger worse. Animals are great maybe think about getting a dog or cat. Read a good book, or watch a good movie. Turn off social media it’s toxic too many people fighting. Good luck!!

Great advice, and I totally agree. I don’t mind it at all, I just stare at the tank or play with pups.

I personally find peace in my choice of faith. I'll read the bible and it calms my mind and helps me rest.

You could probably find the same feeling by going out into the wilderness and read a good book. Or go fishing and listen to the sound of the wind pushing the waves onto the shore. The world is full of peaceful spots to help you get away and reflect on life and find moments of peace.

Find your niche, it's out there. All you got to do is get over the hurdle of motivation and leave.

I’m 36 this year and this year has been the hardest of my life EVER. I took it upon myself to eat healthier. I feel much better although the stress is still there. However, I feel I manage it better. +Green tea in the mornings and afternoons is a good pick-me-up. We’re all in this together. Let’s be optimistic. :)

Facebook will drain you!

Exercise is a good one for the body overall.

To really regenerate, find a guided meditation that's designed for this. Search around and pick somebody you find comforting to listen to. Plenty on YouTube and Spotify, all free. Take that to a place you can be alone and just shut the outside world out.

Focus on yourself and listen to sessions that will help deal with any issues you may be experiencing. Guided meditation can change your mindset and outlook on everything for the better! Similar to counseling or speaking with a friend, just more private.

Turning off social media was step one for me. Exercising is always great. I love riding my MT bike and going fly fishing. Just being outdoors by myself helps me to relax. I also stopped watching TV on days that I work. I am now reading a lot more and getting more done.

+1 to turning off social media. I can feel my BP rise when I get on there

Im pretty sure I’m in a semi rut/depression at the moment. I’m the one responsible for safety at our facility so work (my usual escape from home) is hectic and extremely stressful. Granted I kept my job so at least I don’t have financial stress. Home, my usual escape from work, is rocky at best with my hubby. I’m really feeling down. Normally my tank, quilting, reading, gaming keep me happy but I can’t motivate myself to do any of it.

Oh god yes-social media is awful right now. I got rid of that last week-it just drains my soul right now.
I did check out meditation once-found out I’m one of those people that can’t visualize. I visualize ideas and concepts but I can’t picture things in my head. Like...you can visualize I still shot or someone’s face-I can’t do that. I can think of them and who they are but I can’t SEE anything lol

Have you ever considered walking in the door and smacking him and asking what the heck? Not with a closed fist mind you but more of an attention getter? Difficult to explain and I'm the opposite sex obviously but sometimes I don't hear what my better half is saying. Saw a video years ago during one of our safety briefings when the young lady is talking to her husband explaining how she snags her sweater when she took it off and he keeps interrupting her by saying she has a nail in her forehead. She is explaining how she feels and he tries to fix it. I know I do this a lot and my better half finally had it and said *** you are always trying to fix things and never listen. How is that for being blunt, right?

In any case this is the last place you need that sort of talk so I'm really sorry. See, I'm trying to fix things instead of listening. Clearly I have a ways to go. I guess what I'm trying to say is gaming (if it has PvP options go bust some virtual heads :) ) or quilting or music or reading help please take a minute to do it. Otherwise it will build up like a flood of water filling up a dang until you burst. No one wants that.

Edit: I am teasing about the smack. Really - maybe poor joke. All I can say is to try and take a step to try something. Quilt maker maybe your machine does embroidery? If so maybe order some plush towels and make some display tank wipes with fish or corals? Sounds like you have some interests and as you said a speed bump is in the way. All the best!

I will take thanos out of his cage and play video games to unwind. He'll fall asleep on my shoulder and I'll kill zombies:)
