I’m getting ready to retire and I have to provide my Social Security number (which I never post on) to file in the blanks to get my money. Having a Social Media account allows the government access to all my personal information just by signing up. Social media is similar, imo. If I ever forget my number I’ll never get another free check again.

In this contest a person could win by posting here every day for another chance at the draw. Having a social media entry was not the only way to win.

Oh I know; I was a programmer at one of the first profile-based marketing companies.
Its uncanny how much information about you is out there...

The scary thing is that now you don't even need to sign up... its collected anyway and linked back to 'you'; so either you make an account and have some control over that information or your profile is in the cloud and although its 'not you' its 'you'...

so you may as well have the account.

Not to be contradictory but I don't use social media! I just posted here for entries. Reef2Reef contests are nice because they usually provide a good amount of ways to win without needing fakebook or instascam.
