Full tank shot on an angle. So hard to get everything in focus.

Love the tank. Its packed! Which decisions?
Frog spawn will need to go. taking up too much room.
The plate coral is getting too big.
Last week I captured 4 RBTA nems and gave away / sold them. Everyone split and now we are back to having 12 nems again!

Need to start swapping RBTA's for acro frags.

Hi all,
I will end this build thread with a few pics.
I have had this tank for almost 3 weeks.
I shall tell you the story of this tank that I call "Ann's Legacy".
I was fortunate to be looking for a tank when a former RASOC member, Ann, decided to get out of the hobby.

She had a great system starting with a Red Sea 360 (94 gallons).
Lights = Aquaticlife expert series
Diablo skimmer
2 MP10s
Jebao pump of some sort
An establish refugium
ATO

Live rock

Hippo tang (Can you guess the name?)
Yellow coris wrasse (Scuba Steve)
Gold banded wrasse (Ruby Tuesday)
Banghai cardinal (Mr. Grumpy)

AND

35 corals and anenomes

On a cold January day, I made my way to South Carolina with rubber maids and buckets in tow.
We broke down the tank piece by piece, loaded it all into the minivan.
Everything was meticulously clean.
The rock anemone of course was not going to detach. So it had to travel, exposed at the bottom of the tank in the open air.
No bad ocean smell in the van while driving.
Freezing rain began the fall on our way back to North Carolina.
It was now Saturday evening, I had to get all of this up 3 flights of stairs in the freezing rain.
Time of course is critical.

Got some help and got the tank up the stairs and into place.
Started adding water, found a heater to pop in and started adding all of the residents into a cloudy chaotic mess.
The impellors to the MP10 were left behind in South Carolina! I could not move the water. And I had no clue at that point
how to set up the sump.
The solution was to pop the skimmer pump into the tank to move water.
Now late at night and all of my helpers have opted for wine and beer.
Got the tank into a livable state.
Next day, got sump going, refugium in place, lights set up.

It is now 3 weeks later. I did not lose a single specimen.
The lobsters molted.
the 5 BTA's have become 7.
It was a great moving adventure that has a happy ending!
It is a testament to how well Ann took care of her tank.
She has made my job incredibly easy.

That is all for now!
On the stunning plate of Monti- my guess is that it would achieve that shape by spreading over a sandy bottom? or does it grow the way it's currently standing?

Short update.
The new Urchin. He is our favorite.
His name is Viking Linus.
Yesterday I gave him an axe.

Random shot early morning while the lights are too blue.

Next project is a battery back up using car battery.
And pondering the idea of starting REd Sea color ABCD.
Viking ax and helmet?! BUAHAHAHAAAA

This week we learned that plate corals sting toadstools. And not the other way around. The encounter has been months in the making as both are growing too big for their space. Plate is about 10 inches in diameter. The toad is between the size of a grapefruit and a volleyball (#Science,#measurements).
This week they touch. The plate is unfazed. The edge of the toadstool looks recoiled a little (like cauliflower ear).

At the same time toadstool now touches purple stylophora. Neither seem to care. They can share mutual air space!!!

Added a Calfornia tort.
Bleaching event.
RIP California Tort. I dipped with Aquavitra's Reef dip for the first time.
I can't say the dip contributed to the demise. At least no pests came of this.

Everyone else is happy. 3 more RBTA's have moved to the glass, Time to catch and move to new homes! (12 RBTA's in total at the moment).

Found 4 aptasia in the nano tank. Fellow reefer provided some zoa frags.
First 1 on a tiny rock that I pitched out.
2nd one I smothered with Marine epoxy.
3rd one was amongst some zoas, to I kalk paste blasted it.
4rth one is bigger and among zoas. I think I will try to kalk blast that one too.

Summer 2022 Update!
RTN Bonanza.
Lost Elegance, Duncans, Hammerhead, Frogspawn, large plate coral, 2 montis.
Will start the process again the fall. Rainbow nems are foulished and thrived from all of this destruction, 21 and counting. Fish happy through it all.
Parameters tested appeared normal through the ordeal.

Where 50 corals once stood…
Only 2 toadstools, some cabbage leathers and 1 dozen rainbow nems remain…
We shall rise from the ashes this fall and begin anew.

Black tank no more!!
My wife wanted a white tank. I pondered trying to trade for one or upgrade to a new white tank. But that would be costly.

Using a vinyl wrap, I opted to lighten up the room with a white wrap on the base.
I ordered a large roll of white vinyl from Ebay:

12 feet X 2.5 feet. This was enough for the 2 doors and 2 side panels on this redsea 360.

I removed the ReadSea label and glued it back after applying the wrap. There are plenty of wrap errors hiding in there but all in all it looks decent. Always wanted a white tank and this was a $50 solution that worked really well !!

Tools that helped:

Screwdriver to remove doors
Dental floss to remove the Redsea label
Spray bottle of 70% isopropanol (squeegee out all the bubbles)
Towel
A flat credit card like edge that is soft to help smooth out bubbles
An exacto knife to cut the pieces and remove the excess vinyl

IMG-2430.jpg

The tank has largely beaten the hair algae battle.

Even with the cover, a clown leaped out and landed on the cover. Now I must find yet another partner for the remaining perc.

Added a handful of zoanthids from smaller tank.

Back to happy tank days!

Wow! What a great DIY solution! You've got mad wrapping skills! What are you doing around December 22-23...?
